Nutritional Assessment & Supplementation of Deficiencies Project - A

Medlndia Hospitals along with its sister Institution Medlndia Charitable Trust, has conducted Free Blood Tests for Nutritional Assessment for Anaemia, Calcium, Protein and Lipid deficiencies and supplemented the nutrients to the deficient students.

We observed, in our regular medical camps, that disabled children had several nutritional deficiencies namely low Hemoglobin, calcium, protein and Lipase with resultant physical growth retardation. This is likely to have a negative impact in them who are already unfortunately afflicted with several shortcomings.

The project for nutritional assessment and supplementation of deficiencies was initiated in Chennai in Phase 1 and throughout Tamil Nadu in Phase II in 2012. The results of the follow up camps carried out in 2016 observed very good improvement in the nutritional status of the camp attendees after supplementation.

This innovative initiative of assessment of the nutritional assessment parameters, has contributed to the linear growth of the disabled school students after nutritional supplementation and clinical followup. This confirms the impact of this project and which is vital for the growing children in their formative years, without which these students would have a compromised health status.
