(A) CHILD OF A CHILD - Tree Sapling Adoption & Plantation Project

MedIndia Charitable Trust (a sister organization of MedIndia Hospitals, Nungambakkam, Chennai) organized a Unique, First of its kind, Special Tree Sapling Adoption & Plantation Project for the Speech & Hearing Impaired School Students, namely “CHILD OF A CHILD” on the 4th September, 2019 at Dr. MGR School for the Speech & Hearing Impaired, Ramapuram, Chennai.

This Pilot Project seeks to voluntarily promote and increase Green Cover by planting Tree Saplings and nurturing the same through sustained and continuous efforts by the students from Primary School level to 10th Standard, in Rural, Semi-Urban and Urban Areas of Tamil Nadu. This pilot project was initiated to inculcate an awareness among school children when they join primary school (1st Standard) about tree plantation, caring and nurturing greenery and take responsibility for creating the green belt in their immediate surroundings.

Dr. T.S. Chandrasekar, Managing Trustee, MedIndia Charitable Trust & Chief Gastroenterologist, MedIndia Hospitals along with Dr. Latha Rajendran, Principal, Dr. MGR School for the Speech & Hearing Impaired, partook in the proceedings of the Special Tree Sapling Adoption & Plantation Program.

As part of this voluntary, unique, first of its kind, “CHILD OF A CHILD Special Tree Adoption & Plantation Project, the students of the Dr. MGR School for the Speech &Hearing Impaired planted Tree Saplings and watered them, with assistance with MedIndia Charitable Trust, Chennai. The Tree Saplings will be taken care of by the students on a regular basis and shall be monitored through photography by team members of the MedIndia Charitable Trust. The trust shall be assisting the sapling plantation program with growth inputs such as fertilizers, pesticides and periodic horticulture services.

As a measure of encouragement, at the end of one year, the students are asked to write a one page essay on their experience in nurturing the tree sapling. Accordingly, the student who writes the best essay will be given an Award by MedIndia Charitable Trust along with a Certificate of Appreciation
