Endoscopy Training & Development of G.I. Endoscopy

Dr. Chandrasekar has had the best of talents, planning and organizing expertise, executional and leadership capabilities to passionately contribute several scientific advancements for the development of gastrointestinal endoscopy from its infancy (1980) to its zenith (2017) and placed India in the World Map of Gastroenterology & G.I. Endoscopy.

Dr. Chandrasekar has contributed to the development of the new field of G.I. Endoscopy, with many firsts to his credit which have been given below

  • Created 14 Unique Teaching CD-ROMs on Basic & Advanced Endoscopy from the compilation of over 23,500 state-of-the-art life saving, non-invasive complex endoscopic surgical procedures performed by him.
  • Trained over 750 doctors from all over India and neighbouring countries enabling life saving endoscopy procedures available to the rural masses
  • Introduced “first of its kind” Post Doctoral Fellowship Program in Advanced GI Endoscopy (affiliated to The Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University).
  • Founded MedIndia Academy and organized 10 International Live Workshops, 16 National Conferences, 26 Regional Conferences, 14 Endoscopy Crash courses and convened 200 Weekly meetings
  • Introduced several “state-of-the-art” endoscopic facilities such as Endo Ultrasonography, High Resolution G.I. Manometry, Spy Glass Cholangio Pancreatoscopy, Balloon Enteroscopy, Esophageal Lab, Constipation Relief Lab, Holmium Laser Lithotripsy and Intensive Digestive Care Unit (IDCU) in this part of South India.
  • Authored two books on G.I. Endoscopy
  • Delivered over 750 invitational lectures and 40 prestigious orations in national and international medical conferences
  • Established a new Department of Medical Gastroenterology at Government Medical College, Coimbatore.
  • Appointed as South Indian Chairman of Medical Advisory Council, Boston Scientific, USA for developing low cost indigenous endoscopy accessories
